Job summary
We are looking for an individual that demonstrates flexibility, workload planning and can work in a fast paced environment under the direction of Lead Educator, Pre Registration Innovation and Projects to:-
Support induction and orientation of students to UHB
Assist students with placement documentation to achieve skills and learning outcomes
Support Ward 12 GHH Student Led Clinical Learning Environment (SLCLE). The Clinical Educator will spend their time in the SLCLE working alongside students and staff, outside of the SLCLE, the clinical educator will be expected to provide support to all clinical placement areas, student-led clinical learning environment and clinical skills labs
Enhance student experience by coordinating and teaching a range of clinical skills sessions and complete placement audits to assess suitability for students
Support practice supervisors and practice assessors so they have the necessary skills and knowledge to guide, teach and assess students. Support with underachieving students, developing action plans, whilst escalating to universities and the placement managers
Utilise excellent written and oral communication skills to support staff and students understanding digital methods for communication and record keeping
Demonstrate clinical teaching skills, whilst being a credible practitioner with a desire to improve the student experience on placement, producing exciting teaching plans for students
Main duties of the job
* Primary focus on supporting the Ward 12 GHH SLCLE. Approx 80% of the time spent here whilst other 20% is spent supporting Practice Placement Team.
* Work with Clinical Educator within SLCLE clinical area to facilitate SLCLE project continuation.
* Assisting students with placement documentation and discussion on achievement of learning outcomes.
* Demonstrating innovative approaches in identifying and meeting the training and development needs of students.
* Support on a range of clinical student skills sessions and student Forums
* Support the appropriate placement of pre-registration students.
* If students are identified as underachieving in practice, assist the Practice Assessors/Supervisors with the development of action plans which support the students learning.
* Communicating with the PPMs about potential fails in practice.
* Liaising with practice staff in supporting the achievement of Practice Assessor training.
* Acting as a source of advice for Practice Assessors/Supervisors and students to continually improve the quality of assessment in practice.
* Identifying potential development opportunities for pre-registration student placements, i.e. liaising with MDT members, Specialist Clinical teams who wish to establish new rotational packages / care pathways for students.
