We are looking for a qualified nurse with experience in respiratory medicine, thoracic surgery, oncology or palliative care who also has a passion for caring for patients with lung cancer.
We provide emotional & psychological support, diagnostic advice and information, and signposting advice for all patients and their relatives and carers on a lung cancer pathway.

You will work across all three of the main HGS hospital sites providing support to patients attending Respiratory, Thoracic surgery and Oncology clinics as well as assessing and supporting inpatients.
To apply for this post you will need to have;
*Have experience or transferable skills in caring for lung cancer patients.
*Have or working towards Degree or Masters level study.
*Post basic training, experience or qualification in oncology, palliative care, respiratory or thoracic surgery would be advantageous.
*Excellent advanced communication skills.
*A commitment to undertake professional development.

Main duties of the job
We are looking for an experienced, innovative, motivated, hardworking and enthusiastic registered nurse with excellent communication skills who has a passion and drive for delivering patient centered care and services.
The post holder will manage a caseload of patients and be an expert resource to lung cancer patients and their careers. Acting as a key worker you will use and apply expert knowledge of cancer treatment to oversee and co-ordinate services and personalise the pathway of care for individual patients. This includes ensuring the complex information and support needs of patients and families are addressed.
You will possess excellent communication skills and have the ability to work both independently and as a member of the specialist lung cancer multidisciplinary team.
You should have demonstrable experience of working with people affected by lung cancer and a good understanding of both local and national lung cancer guidelines and pathways.
