Job summary
We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated individual for the post of Senior Clinical Scientist within the Biochemistry team at University Hospitals Birmingham (UHB). The post is fixed term for 12 months to cover maternity leave. Applicants should have an honours degree in a relevant science, and MSc in Clinical Biochemistry or equivalent, registration with the Health Professions Council as a Clinical Scientist, or be in the final year of Healthcare Sciences STP training scheme, with the aim to achieve HCPC registration within the next 6 months.
Main duties of the job
There are automation laboratories across four hospital sites (Heartlands, Good Hope, Solihull and Queen Elizabeth hospitals), with the automation laboratories at QE and Heartlands sites being large, state of the art laboratories fitted with Abbott pre-analytics, Abbott Alinity platforms and tracks. The post holder will be required to primarily work in our automated laboratory on the Queen Elizabeth Hospital site and will also be expected to contribute to the clinical support activities of the department in the cross site duty biochemist rota, once state registered.
