Job summary

Maternity services at University Hospitals Birmingham take place over Heartlands, Good Hope and Solihull Hospital. The post holder will play a pivotal role in coordinating capacity and maintaining the flow of patients both into and out of the pregnancy assessment room (PAER), at Heartlands hospital, by working closely with the Clinical team, service users and divisional managers.

The post holder will provide a comprehensive and efficient co-ordination service working in conjunction with the operational, medical, and midwifery teams. It is essential the post holder exercises initiative and judgement using acquired skills and knowledge as required.

The post holder will work an agreed shift pattern between the hours of 08:00-20:00 over a 7 day working week.

Main duties of the job

Maternity Flow Coordinator

*Collaboratively communicate and work with clinical and divisional management teams to ensure patient flow both into and out of PAER.

*Establish robust processes with all key stakeholders involved in maternity patient flows to negotiate and improve the co-ordination of the patient journey.

*The post holder will assist in capturing patient information, monitoring information by proactively identifying and taking actions to enable patients to be prioritised, admitted, and discharged as per individual management plan.

*Become fully conversant and utilise when necessary Trust IT systems.

*Have responsibility for the timely and accurate data entry of patient information and use the system(s) to report patient information.

*Monitor and report on patients attending and discharging PAER.
