OPAL is a geriatrician led MDT in ED & AMU at Queen Elizabeth, Heartlands & Good Hope Hospitals. Including consultants,JDs, therapists, ACPs, therapy assistants,social workers,nurse practitioners, with dietetic/speech & language support.'Why Not Home, Why Not Today' is part of the Early Intervention programme preventing unnecessary hospital admissions providing specialist care,helping frail & vulnerable people, with community services for a 'home-first' approach.
A consultant for each hospital is required (x3). Add preferred site on application.
Patients are seen face to face (by OPAL) & virtually by phone (by OPAL) for patients seen by paramedics & community practitioners at home. The post is 10 programmed activities, but working less than full time can be accommodated.
Main duties of the job
Job plan: PAs for direct patient care & SPAs to support revalidation activities including CPD & educational supervision/teaching. Must possess MRCP or equivalent; be on the Specialist Register in Geriatric & General Medicine or within 6 months of CCT in Geriatric & General Medicine. 8.0 PA -- with 7-day senior-led direct clinical activities; subspecialty work and associated administration; up to 1 PA for acute unselected medical on-call; prospective cover for colleagues' annual and study leave.

*Service Development
