Job summary

University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Trust has a MAT Leave cover fixed term vacancy for a qualified professional Librarian, with Health library literacy searching skills and training. This is for more than one post, and would be ideal for someone looking to work flexibly.

Good Hope and Heartlands Hospitals are based in Birmingham and provide a range of outpatient, inpatient and emergency services to its local community. Both Good Hope and Heartlands Hospital Library are located within the Education Centre. But the candidate could work at another site or from home.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will be expected to provide Clinical Liaison library support to clinical staff. They will have a high level of interpersonal skills, time management and literature/researching experience. Knowledge of health care and terminology will be useful. You will work with a team of Clinical Liaison librarians, who work at the other main hospital sites in the Trust.

You will also have experience in delivering training online for group and one to one. Have worked on developing e-learning and supporting selecting online health libraries content.

You will be qualified librarian with or working towards your Chartership, with experience or knowledge of NHS Health libraries. Support is provided to enable progression with CILIP Chartership. Previous library experience is essential. Competence in MS OFFICE is also needed.

The new post-holder will have the opportunity to network with other local library colleagues within the Trust as well as the 20 libraries within the BASE patch [covering Birmingham, Solihull and the Black Country]. They will also be collaboration with the new Midlands wide HeLM consortium.
