Job summary

We are looking for a 1 WTE clinical/educational psychologist to join the multi-agency team providing services for Children with neuro-developmental needs including the possibility of an Autistic Spectrum Disorder and their families.

Banding of the post offered will depend on experience.

This is a new opportunity to join the team in a preceptorship/development role as a Band 7 with the progression within post towards a Band 8a role, or alternatively the post holder may join the team in a band 8a role if previous experience supports this.

This dynamic and exciting post offers the opportunity to work as part of a multi agency team with children up to 18 years of age. The team consists of Clinical and Educational Psychologists, Paediatricians, a Psychiatrist, Child Psychotherapist, Speech and Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists and Specialist Health Visitor working within this specialist service. There are currently 4 substantive psychology posts in the team.

The service is commissioned and delivered separately from the local CAMHS (SOLAR).

The post holder will be responsible for assessment, differential diagnosis and advice being offered to children and their families within a strong and supportive service structure.

This post is based at Chelmsley Wood Primary Care Centre, with access to both clinic and office space, along with car parking on site.

Main duties of the job

*To take the case lead role in coordinating multi-disciplinary assessments and assessment planning and to deliver a diagnosis to children and families when appropriate.

*To provide psychological diagnostic assessment, interventions, management and advice using highly specialist advanced skills and knowledge for a caseload of children with complex developmental difficulties including the possibility of an Autistic Spectrum Disorder.

*To support the Lead Psychologist and the Clinical lead in the planning, development and evaluation of the service with allocated responsibilities according to skill set.

*To ensure the systematic provision of a high quality specialist service to children and their families aged between 0-18 years presenting with neurodevelopmental disorders including the possibility of an Autistic Spectrum Disorder.

*To work autonomously within professional guidelines and exercise responsibility for the systematic governance of professional practice.

*To utilise skills for audit, policy and service development and research taking responsibility for aspects of service development through audit.

*To provide advice support and training to other members of the multi disciplinary team.
