You as the successful candidate will be an experienced, senior Therapeutic Radiographer, who is challenged by providing excellence in service delivery and crucially an experienced and motivating Lead that our colleagues can aspire too and seek support from.
Working in conjunction with the Radiotherapy Lead Manager you will lead a team of 90 including Technical Leads, clinical therapeutic radiographers, specialist therapeutic radiographers and a wider patient administration team. Collectively this incredible team ensure and develop the provision of a high quality and safe service to all our patients and colleagues.

Main duties of the job
The main duties of this role include:
* Supporting the Radiotherapy Lead Manager in ensuring and developing the provision of a high quality and safe service through innovative personal leadership and management.
* To be responsible for the overall day to day operations of the Radiotherapy Department.
* To provide strong leadership and technical expertise to the department and Trust to ensure the delivery of a consistently excellent standard of care and treatment.
* To act as Radiation Protection Supervisor within the department ensuring compliance with IRR 2017.
* To deputise for the Radiotherapy Lead Manager when required at department, trust, regional and national levels

- * Qualified Radiographer (e.g. Diploma of the College of Radiographers -- Therapy / Degree in Therapeutic Radiography)
- * MSc in relevant subject (e.g Leadership, Management, Radiotherapy and Oncology) and / or equivalent experience / additional knowledge in the form of formal training / specialist knowledge
- * Current state registration
- * Attendance of recent relevant post graduate courses and study days
- * Evidence of interest and commitment in working towards further professional development and qualification
Desirable
- * Evidence of relevant MSc level study
- * Postgraduate qualification in Management Studies or equivalent
Experience

- * Experience of working clinically at a senior radiographer grade with evidence of leading and organising a team of radiographers
- * Significant post graduate experience on a wide range of radiotherapy equipment to include recent and extensive experience at management level.
- * Experience in assessing and teaching radiographers and trainee radiographers
- * Experience of developing staff clinically and professionally
- * Specialist knowledge of cancer pathology and disease patterns
- * Specialist knowledge of clinical radiotherapy including potential radiation risks, acute patient side effects and their effective management
- * An active awareness of relevant legislation, national cancer standards and professional guidelines
- * An awareness of the national agenda for radiotherapy services.
