Job summary

This is a really exciting time to join our established outpatient pharmacy service 'Newcastle Pharmacy Services'. We provide an outpatient dispensing service to the patients of The Newcastle upon Hospitals NHS Trust. We are looking for motivated and dynamic individuals who thrive in a fast paced, energetic and friendly environment who are keen to develop themselves and the service.

Full time 37.5 hours per week

27 days annual leave plus 8 bank holidays, annual leave year; 01 April -31 March

Pension: Nest Pension Scheme; 5% employee contribution and 3 % employer contribution

Pay Date: 28th of the month

Main duties of the job

To perform the professional role of a Registered Pharmacist within an outpatient pharmacy environment. This includes providing advice to patients regarding the use of their medicines as well as supervision for pharmacy staff.

Point of contact for nursing and clinical staff regarding medicines management issues.

Provides specialist advice and recommendations to other healthcare staff including senior medical staff, general practitioners and nursing staff on matters related to the use of medicines in writing, in person and by telephone.

Qualifications & Education

Essential

  • UK-registered pharmacist (GPhC)
  • Completion of MPharm degree (or an undergraduate degree in Pharmacy with relevant experience) plus pre-registration training and experience
  • Postgraduate qualification in clinical pharmacy, or satisfactory evidence of equivalent competence as demonstrated in a practice portfolio of evidence

Desirable

  • Clinical Diploma / Clinical Masters
  • Registered with the GPhc as an independent prescriber

Knowledge & Experience

Essential

  • Demonstrable post-graduate experience in pharmacy
  • Demonstrable evidence of competence in general clinical practice
  • Demonstrable evidence of competence

Desirable

  • Evidence of involvement in clinical audit
  • Experience of working within specialist area
  • Significant post registration experience in hospital pharmacy
  • Experience of working in a hospital environment
  • Experience of working with specialist patient cohort

  • Demonstrate the ability to appropriately recommend, substantiate and communicate therapeutic options
