This is a really exciting time to join our newly established outpatient pharmacy service 'Newcastle Pharmacy Services'. We provide an outpatient dispensing service to the patients of The Newcastle upon Hospitals NHS Trust. We are looking for motivated and dynamic individuals who thrive in a fast paced, energetic and friendly environment who are keen to develop themselves and the service.
Full time 45 hours per week

28 days annual leave plus 8 bank holidays, annual leave year; 01 April -31 March
Pension: Nest Pension Scheme; 5% employee contribution and 3 % employer contribution

Main duties of the job
To perform the professional role of a Registered Pharmacist within an outpatient pharmacy environment. This includes providing advice to patients regarding the use of their medicines as well as supervision for pharmacy staff.
Point of contact for nursing and clinical staff regarding medicines management issues.
Provides specialist advice and recommendations to other healthcare staff including senior medical staff, general practitioners and nursing staff on matters related to the use of medicines in writing, in person and by telephone.
About us
Our new outpatient pharmacy - Newcastle Pharmacy Services - will operate from 1 December 2024 as a subsidiary of the Trust. This follows an announcement from Lloyds in August 2024, that it was withdrawing from its 64 Lloyds Pharmacy-branded hospital pharmacy sites across the country, including those at the RVI and Freeman Hospitals, later this year.

- UK-registered pharmacist (GPhC)
- Completion of MPharm degree (or an undergraduate degree in Pharmacy with relevant experience) plus pre-registration training and experience
- Postgraduate qualification in clinical pharmacy, or satisfactory evidence of equivalent competence as demonstrated in a practice portfolio of evidence
Desirable
- Clinical Diploma / Clinical Masters
- Registered with the GPhc as an independent prescriber
Knowledge & Experience
Essential
- Demonstrable post-graduate experience in pharmacy
- Demonstrable evidence of competence in general clinical practice
- Demonstrable evidence of competence
