This is a really exciting time to join our newly established outpatient pharmacy service 'Newcastle Pharmacy Services'. We provide an outpatient dispensing service to the patients of The Newcastle upon Hospitals NHS Trust. We are looking for motivated and dynamic individuals who thrive in a fast paced, energetic and friendly environment who are keen to develop themselves and the service.
Full time 37.5 hours per week working Monday -Friday shifts 08:30 - 17.00.
Trustwide. Base at RVI or Freeman but expected to cover shifts at both sites when required.
Annual Leave - 25 days holiday per year plus Bank Holidays
Pension: Nest Pension Scheme; 5% employee contribution and 3 % employers contribution
Pay Date: 25th of the month
Main duties of the job
To support the Pharmacy Purchasing Manager to ensure a safe and efficient pharmacy procurement service.To carry out all procedures relating to the purchasing, booking-in and payment of pharmaceuticals, and sundries for the outpatient pharmacies.
To ensure all computer generated and ad hoc pharmacy orders are processed accurately from appropriate suppliers
Communicates with Pharmacy Purchasing Manager and the Multi-Site Pharmacy Manager on a daily basis regarding operational and procurement issues including supply problems.
Responds to appropriate requests for medicines and liaises with department staff to ensure requirements are met.
About us
Our new outpatient pharmacy - Newcastle Pharmacy Services - will operate from 1 December 2024 as a subsidiary of the Trust. This follows an announcement from Lloyds in August 2024, that it was withdrawing from its 64 Lloyds Pharmacy-branded hospital pharmacy sites across the country, including those at the RVI and Freeman Hospitals.

- GCSE grade 4 or above or equivalent in English and Mathematics or previous relevant experience
Desirable
- NVQ level 2 in Business Administration or Pharmacy
- Services or previous relevant experience ECDL or equivalent
