Heartbeat Primary Care CIC is looking for a dedicated
Healthcare Assistant to join our Clinical Services team to deliver high-quality
care across our hub sites.
In this key role, you will support the clinical team by
carrying out a range of patient-facing duties, including blood pressure
monitoring, phlebotomy, simple wound care and assisting with long-term
condition reviews, all with a strong focus on person-centred care.
This post is offered as a "Bank"position with a
variety of shifts available during working hours, evenings and weekends,
offering you the flexibility of when you work.

Rates of Pay - Enhanced Access (Evenings and Weekends)
HCA - £20.00 plus 12.07% annual leave allowance
Rates of Pay - In Hours (Between 8.00am - 6.00pm)
HCA - £15.75 plus 12.07% annual leave allowance
Main duties of the job
Working alongside a multidisciplinary team, the HCA will assist in the smooth running of clinics by providing high-quality, hands-on patient care.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Conducting NHS Health Checks
- Performing phlebotomy (blood taking)
- Monitoring and recording information such as blood pressure, pulse, height, and weight
- Supporting long-term condition reviews under clinician guidance
- Assisting with wound care and dressing changes, where appropriate
- Promoting health and wellbeing through brief interventions and lifestyle advice
This is a patient-facing role that requires excellent communication skills, compassion, and a strong focus on providing safe, effective care in a primary care setting.

As well as providing support and opportunities for at-scale working to our member practices and PCNs, we are a healthcare provider delivering a range of General Practice services from multiple locations across the area, including for patients of our own list at Harewood Medical Practice.
We deliver various clinical services during the week, on evenings and weekends to patients in various locations across Hambleton, Richmondshire.

The Enhanced Access service operates on behalf of Hambleton and Richmondshire PCNs and is delivered from a number of local General Practices and hospital.
The role is to cover a variety of shifts which are convenient to you. We offer in hours shifts (14.00-18.00hrs), and shifts on an evening (18.30 - 20.00hrs) and weekends (Sat 09.00-17.00hrs & Sun 09.00-13.00hrs).
We have many clinical services which require the expertise of a HCA to complete the service delivery team
Clinical Tasks
- Perform phlebotomy as per training and clinical procedure.
- Record patient observations including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, BMI, urinalysis, and ECGs
- Remove sutures/clips and apply basic dressings
- Prepare, maintain, and restock treatment areas and equipment before and after patient appointments.
- Participate in health promotion and patient education activities.
- Escalate clinical concerns to a senior nurse or GP promptly.
Communication
- Communicate sensitively and effectively with patients, carers, and team members.
- Adapt communication methods to suit patients' individual needs, backgrounds, and understanding and perspectives.
- Maintain open, respectful, and professional communication within the team and with external partners.
- Represent patients needs and perspectives when appropriate.

- Work within your level of competence and training.
- Manage your workload effectively, maintaining high standards of patient care.
- Deliver care aligned with NICE guidelines, local protocols, and evidence-based practice.
