Job summary

An opportunity has arisen for registered nurses with at least three years post registration experience (by January 2026) who are looking to develop their skills as a Community Specialist Practitioner (District Nursing)

The course is offered at level 7 and includes the independent and supplementary prescribing V300 qualification.

Your studies would enable you to develop a critical, innovative and reflective approach to address the health care needs of individuals, families, carers, groups and communities. You would be studying full time over one year. Your time is divided between Suffolk University, Self-Led Study and a clinical Practice Placement within one of our Primary Care Home teams.

If successful you will be seconded at your current band and paypoint.

Funding for band 5 backfill will be paid to your new clinical team for the duration of your secondment.

Main duties of the job

The Queens Nursing Institute in 2015 within their The Value of the District Nurse Specialist asked nurses with the qualification to articulate what they felt the value of the qualification was;

The value of my qualification has given me the opportunity to study leadership and management which has given me the tools and skills to line manage and inspire my team to provide high quality patient centred care and skills to influence and enhance partnership working with other agencies.

Respondents were also asked for the top three skills they had learned:

* Leadership and management skills

*Clinical assessment skills

*Autonomous decision-making

There is also the opportunity to complete the V300 non medical prescriber qualification which allows the delivery of more holistic care

These skills were cited as impacting directly on the quality of care that is delivered to patients in their homes and community.
