Welcome to Waveney Primary Care Home (PCH)

Are you looking for a job where no two days are the same and will give you the opportunity to work as part of a multiprofessional team in the Waveney area

We are looking for a dedicated Phlebotomist to join the team.

The successful candidate will provide phlebotomy services to housebound patients and care home residents in Waveney which includes Beccles, Bungay, Southwold , Halesworth and Kessingland.

They will mange the waiting list to ensure that patients referred for phlebotomy have their blood sample obtained in the correct time frame and ensure that samples obtained are returned to collection sites to ensure timely processing, reporting concerns to senior staff.

Please note: Under current UK immigration rules, this role does not meet the eligibility requirements for sponsorship under either the Health and Care Worker visa or the Skilled Worker visa routes.

Main duties of the job

  • To undertake venous blood samples (phlebotomy), ensuring the highest quality of patient centred care at all time
  • To provide patients with appropriate level of support and reassurance throughout procedures
  • To be constantly observant and to promptly report any changes in the patients condition and circumstance.
  • To maintain infection prevention and control measures at all times in line with ECCH policy including sharps injury.
  • Promote confidence in the patient by means of appropriate standards of appearance, behaviour and attitudes.
  • Safeguard the confidentiality of all information regarding the patient and their family.
  • To be able to respond effectively without direct supervision in an emergency situation where there is concern for the health and well-being of the patient.
  • Maintain sufficient stock levels of equipment for service and participate in re-ordering of equipment to ensure smooth delivery.
  • Comply with the provisions of the Health and Safety at Work Act, reporting hazards and adverse incidents, and proactively contributing to improving the safety of patients, staff and visitors.
  • Ensure own competence in the use of equipment. Maintain all items of equipment in a clean and tidy condition, reporting faults and deficiencies promptly.
  • To participate in personal development process.
  • Maintain compliance with mandatory training and attend other training as required.
