Dental Hygienist and Therapist
Part time - 15 hrs per week
Band 6: £44,485 - £52,521 Inclusive of Hcas pa pro rata
The Dental Therapist will provide high-quality dental therapy services to adults and children with a wide range of oral health needs, working within the scope of practice defined by the General Dental Council (GDC) and under prescription from a referring dental surgeon. The post holder will contribute to the delivery of clinical care, oral health promotion and prevention programmes across the service. The role requires flexibility to work across multiple sites and participate in domiciliary visits where required. The Dental Therapist will contribute to improving oral health outcomes, supporting vulnerable and priority patient groups, and maintaining high standards of clinical care, patient safety and service delivery. The post holder will be expected to be flexible in their approach and may occasionally be required to work outside of their usual working hours. A valid driving licence and access to a personal vehicle for work purposes are essential for this role. This role will involve manual handling, lifting and shifting.

Clinical ResponsibilitiesThe post holder will deliver a range of dental therapy treatments within their scope of practice, including radiography. They will provide care for patients with additional needs, such as those who are anxious, medically compromised, or have learning disabilities. The role requires accurate record keeping, autonomous practice within scope, effective teamwork, and provision of domiciliary care where appropriate.
Oral Health Promotion and PreventionThe post holder will support oral health promotion initiatives, deliver education to individuals and community groups, and contribute to preventative programmes promoting positive health behaviours.
Service Delivery and Quality ImprovementThe role includes participation in clinical governance, audit, data collection, CPD, and attendance at team meetings, training, and appraisal.
Operational and Safeguarding ResponsibilitiesThe post holder will work flexibly across settings, support team working, maintain equipment, and ensure efficient service delivery. They must comply with safeguarding policies and uphold organisational values, delivering high-quality, patient-centred care and continuous improvement.
