This role will attract an out of hours pay enhancement.
Bromley Healthcare is looking to recruit bank drivers to support our Out of Hours (OOHs) GP home visiting service. The successful postholder will drive the duty doctor in the out of hours vehicle, ensuring that the most efficient route is taken to help meet the needs of Bromley patients in a safe and timely fashion.
Proposed interview date week commencing 8th July 2024
Main duties of the job
When the post holder is not undertaking driving duties, they will be expected to support the out of hours team undertaking administrative duties.
There may also be on occasions, the need to support a GP by accompanying them into a patients home. Although a proportion of the role will involve lone working, the post holder must be able to work as part of a team and be able to communicate effectively to a range of stakeholders including patients, carers, GPs, healthcare professionals and other Bromley Healthcare staff.
Shifts are as follows:
Weekdays 6.30pm - 1am, 00.30am - 8am.
Weekends 8am-1pm, 1pm - 7pm, 7pm - 1am and 00.30am - 7am.
To be considered, applicants must have a full clean driving licence. This will be checked as part of the employment check process.

To drive the duty doctor in the OOH vehicle in a safe and competent mannerdelivering them expeditiously to patients. To work effectively as part of a team with the duty doctor and OOH Supervisor. To plan appropriate routes between calls to identify the patients address and ensurethe most efficient route is taken between calls. To assist the doctor on calls as required, including the carrying of medical equipmentand drug bag. To accompany the doctor into patients homes as requested, ensuring the correctpersonal protective equipment (PPE) is worn when necessary. Maintain communication with the OOH Supervisor to ensure they are aware of whereyou are within the borough of Bromley. To maintain accurate call log sheets. To ensure the vehicle is stocked with all items as required by the doctor. To ensure the vehicles are in a clean, safe condition and with adequate fuel at thestart of each shift. To report any faults or damage to the car to the OOH Supervisor at the beginning,end or during your shift. To ensure that the vehicle is properly secured at all times. To report any accident to the OOH Supervisor, ensuring that details are obtained atthe time of the other driver where appropriate. To communicate with patients, relatives, doctors and other staff in a courteous andprofessional manner. To be familiar with all aspects of patient confidentiality and dispose of confidentialwaste appropriately. To read all communications ensuring that you are up to date with any changes whichmay impact on your job before commencing your shift. Be conversant with Bromley Healthcares complaints process, trying to resolve anycomplaints at the time of them being made or informing patients who wish to formallycomplain how they should proceed. To liaise with Adastra and IT to resolve any problems that arise. To adhere to all Bromley Healthcare policies in areas such as health and safety,confidentiality, infection control and data protection. To complete any mandatory training relevant to the role.
