Main duties of the job
The post holder will support providing an accessible universal school nursing service to Children and Young People (CYP) who are Electively Home Educated. Providing targeted, personalised care and support to vulnerable CYP aged 5-19 years to reach their full health and educational potential.
Provide professional advice, including safeguarding and clinical input within their area of practice.
Work with the service lead and locality leads to improve standards and promote good practice and clinical effectiveness.

The Specialist School Nurse for Electively Home Educated will hold a specialist role within the Bexley School Nursing Team, to support in providing an accessible universal school nursing service to Children and Young People (CYP) who are Electively Home Educated (EHE). The post holder will provide targeted, personalised care and support to vulnerable CYP aged 5 -19 years to reach their full health and educational potential.
The Specialist School Nurse for Electively Home Educated (EHE) will provide professional advice, including safeguarding and clinical input within their area of practice. The post holder will work with the service lead and the locality leads to improve standards and promote good practice and clinical effectiveness within the Bexley 0-19 Childrens Public Health Service.
Working with the service lead, the post holder will develop appropriate data bases, policies and contribute to reports as necessary reporting any issues/concerns that may arise.
The post holder will also work with schools, families and the wider community to improve the health of school aged children. This will be done by delivering the requirements from the service specification.
They will work closely with the identified senior manager in each school providing expert information, guidance and assessments as required. They will support schools to empower parents, CYP to make decisions that affect their health and wellbeing. They will work across health and education professionals and institutions, breaking down barriers to improve the sharing of information, ideas and expertise.
The Specialist School Nurse for EHE will attend multi agency meetings to promote the service and identify children needing support, liaising with the EHE officer.
Thepost holder willact as a key health professionals in coordinating health information to Children Social Care (CSC) and will contribute to related assessments.
The post holder will act as an expert resource to the team, providing advice, support and training. They will also act as a mentor to new staff and students as well as wider team.
