Job summary
Band 5 - Community Nurse - Newly Qualified, about to qualify, new to the community, return to practice.
This is with a view to starting in late March/early April 2024
We seek nurses who are newly registered or are awaiting registration, or indeed new to community so you could be a ward nurse keen to explore what it's like to work in the community.
Fantastic opportunities with our community nursing career pathway to develop your expertise up to senior level.
Initially you will be part of a 12-week training programme and will become part of our Community Nursing team.
- This is a 12-week programme of focused learning and practice, based on the skills, knowledge and attributes essential to Community Nursing.
- You will be part of a small group and given protected time to support each other, share learning, reflect and give feedback.
- Each group will learn and achieve competence in clinical knowledge and skills in a standardised way, ensuring the delivery of the highest quality, safe and effective care.
- We understand that finding your way in a new role isn't just about clinical skills though, so we've included some 'soft' skills sessions on the programme as well, such as building resilience and managing difficult conversations.
- You will be introduced and integrated into your new team in a structured and supported way, with plenty of opportunities for teamwork and discussion.

Main duties of the job
This is due to start in March/April 2024 - why not secure a community nursing role over the spring/summer ready to start in March/April?
The Community Nurse role is a highly skilled role which involves skills such as looking after patients who are end of life, wound care, Picc lines/intravenous medication and many more, these are skills that are very much key to being an excellent Community Nurse.
As a Community Nurse you will deal with a variety of patients in their own homes, the role will involve but is not limited to:
- Responsibility for contributing to the holistic assessment, planning, delivery, and evaluation of patient care.
- Working as part of a multi-professional team to build a comprehensive knowledge of the local population's health needs and maintain peoples' wellbeing and independence
- Implementing, monitoring and maintaining our high standards of care.
- Re-assessing and re-evaluating programmes of care when needed.
Please note that Community Nursing roles are designated essential car users therefore applicants should have a current driving licence and access to a vehicle to be considered for this position.
You will need to be able to work the following shifts:
8.15am - 4.15pm
10.45am - 6.45pm
In addition you will be required to work 1 weekend in 4 and bank holidays as required and must be able to meet this requirement.
You can work additional evening & weekend shifts if you wish.
