Lee Mill Low Secure Unit is a 12-bed male inpatient ward set just outside of Plymouth. We provide specialist mental health care for
men who have often been involved in the legal system due to their mental health
needs. The staff at Lee Mill are
passionate about providing the highest level of patient centred care to an
often challenging & disadvantaged patient group.
As a valued member of the team, you will receive regular
supervision & support from psychological services along with continuing
professional development training including essential training for staff
working within secure services.
Due to the nature of the role, all staff are required to
attend a physical interventions training session to ensure we can meet the
needs of our patients & remain effective in maintaining the safety and
wellbeing of all. This post covers a 24/7 shift pattern & driving is an important part of this role.
This role may not be eligible for sponsorship under the Skilled Worker route.

Main duties of the job
To
use specialist technical &creative skills to assist in the provision of a
flexible, inpatient based therapeutic activity programme.
Liaise
with OT &Nursing colleagues in the Lee Mill Unit to ensure fair access to
scheduled group work activities for patients.
To
provide self-directed, individual activities for specified patients both on & off the unit, working within risk management guidelines, as this may
include working alone in the unit for periods of time.
To
be responsible for planning & implementing specialist activities & other
appropriate interventions; both individual & group activities and
treatments in accordance with identified needs, as sole or co-facilitator at
Lee Mill or in the community.
Participate
in the team which responds to any untoward incidents & undertake associated
training.
To work closely with OTs &Nurses in the unit to ensure
restrictions & escort arrangements are communicated & understood in order
to comply with the agreed management of individual patients on the unit.
To participate in the planning & development of Occupational Therapy Services within the Lee Mill unit. This
may involve participating, where appropriate, in defined projects.
All staff are expected to be able and willing to work across a 7 day service.

to a working environment that is challenging because of systems and

carry an alarm with them at all times and work within the constraints of the
