Podiatrist Required at Band 5

37.5 hours per week. Permanent post.

Base: Beauchamp Centre, Mount Gould Hospital

Working Across: Commissioned area of Plymouth, West Devon and the South Hams

We are seeking a Band 5 HCPC registered Podiatrist to join our diverse team of staff, working across a variety of community, secondary care and domiciliary settings. Practice at band 5 includes extensive wound care management, the provision of care for a wide range of foot pathologies, patient education, peer and multi-professional working and routine MSK care.

Podiatry Services at Livewell Southwest provides care on a needs basis in relation to strict access criteria. Access to medical imaging, independent prescribing and secondary care via specialist podiatrists has proved invaluable to our patients and is a key feature of flexibility and support for staff providing general community based care.

The service provides integrated care across the commissioned area in both primary care and secondary care and as an organisation provides both physical and mental health services as well as adult social care, further integrating the role of Podiatry into a cohesive health and social care infrastructure.

Main duties of the job

To work as a Podiatrist managing a caseload of patients who present with a range of general podiatry needs including wound care, new patient assessments, short episodes of care and long-term condition care to a variety of people including but not limited to conditions such as diabetes and arthritis, vascular conditions and basic foot related limb musculoskeletal disorders.

To employ appropriate assessment, diagnostic, treatment, and evaluation skills.

To work as both a highly motivated team member and as an autonomous practitioner taking responsibility for all associated clinical and organisational tasks as defined by the job description.

To work in a variety of clinical settings and to maintain a domiciliary caseload as required by the Service.

If requested to do so, to undertake a clinic rotational to provide care to patients across the diabetes pathway working within University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust setting, as well as within Livewell Southwest.

The undertaking of domiciliary care is an important feature of this role.

You will work across all service provision settings including but not limited to, community clinics & hospitals, primary care settings, domiciliary settings & as required on a rotational basis, secondary care establishments. Staff rosters may vary depending on service capacity & demands requirements &the post holder will provide cover as directed in managing these factors.
