Livewell Southwest are looking for an HCPC registered prosthetist/orthotist to join the team based in Plymouth. Recent Service development has enabled the opportunity for this dual practising role to work supporting both the prosthetic and orthotic teams in a variety of settings. Applications from final year undergraduates considered.
The current teams comprise over 30 staff including: prosthetists, orthotists, on-site technicians, consultant, physiotherapists, specialist nurse, assistants and administrative support. You will have the opportunity to employ a multi-disciplinary approach via our strong links with variety of teams including: Diabetes, vascular, orthopaedics, Neurology, Community therapy, paediatrics, podiatry and many others. As an independent in-house provider with on-site manufacturing facilities, working for Livewell Southwest will provide the opportunity to collaborate with the full range of suppliers to deliver optimal solutions for the patients you work with.
You will manage your own caseload with support available including via a clinical line manager/mentor, collaborating with the whole team to provide holistic solutions across the wide range of conditions, with the opportunity to build experience in a range of specialisms.

Main duties of the job
To manage your own caseload of prosthetic and orthotic apatients with support from the senior clinical teams.
Undertake clinical assessment and examination of patients to provide suitable specialist prosthetic/Orthotic clinical-technical prescriptions for patients with a wide range of presentations with the support of the senior clinical team.
To follow any clinical procedures, protocols, guidelines and policies that support evidence based or best practice for the prosthetic and orthotic professions and provide feedback regarding such documents which contribute to review and development.
Use measurement and data acquisition techniques in recording all pertinent information to ensure accuracy of patient prescriptions.
Perform positive model and computer aided design, computer aided manufacture (CADCAM) rectifications as appropriate.
Specify the design, componentry, materials, fabrication method and suppliers of prostheses/orthoses and order individual items to meet the patients clinical needs.
Perform mechanical and technical adjustments to prostheses/orthoses
Evaluate the completed device on the patient to ensure the desired quality of body-device interface, functional alignment, comfort, cosmetic appearance and mechanical integrity and safety.
This role may not be eligible for sponsorship under the Skilled Worker route.
