Job summary

Livewell Community substance use services are looking to recruit a Band 6 Mental Health Practitioner to join the complex needs team on a 12 month fixed term contract covering maternity leave. This is an exciting opportunity to build your skills with working with clients with co-occurring mental health difficulties and substance use.

The role will involve working with a caseload of clients with co-occurring mental health and substance use difficulties in collaboration with their allocated Harbour worker. In addition to this the team support the Plymouth Alliance working across a variety of settings such as Shekinah, the homeless hostels and Plymouth soup run. The team also support the work with the community detox team.

Substance use services has seen recent investments enabling the service to expand and develop our offer, including the introduction of a psychology team. The team is made up of nurses, social workers, support workers, Non-medical prescribers, Doctors, assistant practitioners and psychology staff.

There is the opportunity for monthly CPD sessions, 6 weekly wellbeing sessions as a team and ongoing clinical supervision and reflective practice in addition to shadowing other services such as Harbour, and precribing services.

Main duties of the job

You will be working with a caseload of clients with co-occurring mental health and substance use difficulties using an outreach model. This role will include working across the Plymouth alliance offering specialist mental health advice and support.

You will be working as part of an MDT to provide evidenced based interventions.

You will be required to undertake CPD, a period of induction and training, including BBV testing, Naloxone training and harm reduction.
