Job summary

Main duties of the job

To be a Community Phlebotomy your role is vital in terms of supporting peoples care through by undertaking venepuncture, blood pressure and collecting samples from patients in the community ensuring patients safety and personal safety through adhering to Livewell protocols, policies, procedures and relevant Health and Safety legislation at all times.

You will be required to be an autonomous practitioner and a team player. Be responsible for developing your competencies in venepuncture and clinical observations.

You be required to undertake a robust induction, allocated a mentor to support your learning to develop in your role.

We offer training in line with the required competencies for you to build on your knowledge, experience, and skills. You will be expected to undertake continued learning with accessibility to accredited courses.

Have the ability to travel across Plymouth. Reasonable adjustments will be considered as per the Equality Act.

7.1. The post holder is a member of the Community Nursing Team who generally works independently and participates in the assessment of care needs which includes observation of any changes in the patient’s condition and reports findings to the most appropriate Clinician.

7.2. Following a Registered Nurse or Assistant Practitioners assessment of need the post holder will then follow and implement a planned programme of care, with the support of a Registered Nurse from within the team.

7.3. Unplanned care may be included on advice of Registered Nurse or Assistant Practitioner. If circumstances change specific clinician duties may be undertaken in the patients own homes, Care Home settings or other community locations.
