Livewell community substance use services are seeking to recruit a Non-medical prescriber to join our team of prescribers working within Livewell southwest in partnership with Harbour Drug and Alcohol services. This is an exciting opportunity to develop knowledge and skills of working in a specialist field offering prescribing for clients who use drugs and alcohol. There has been considerable investment in substance use services enabling the service to develop our offer, including psychological and pharmacological treatments, including Buvidal.

Working within a team of specialist doctors, non-medical prescribers, community pharmacists and Harbour staff, the role will involve assessments of prescribing needs within the field of drug and alcohol work. It will also include being able to assess and prescribe where appropriate, opiate substitute treatments (OST) interventions but also benzodiazepine reductions and opiate detoxifications and relapse prevention medications in line with medications in Recovery.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will prescribe for clients open to Harbour with a keyworker, working closely with Harbour to achieve best treatment outcomes and to maintain safe prescribing and reduce substance misuse related harm. The post will require service development and leadership skills.
