We are looking for an Occupational Therapist with genuine passion and enthusiasm for acute mental health in-patient work to join us.
We are a team of registered occupational therapists and technical instructors providing therapeutic interventions both on and off the unit. The team are based within a therapy department with lots of wonderful resources for patients. We work closely with all other members of the multi-disciplinary team throughout the unit to provide patient centered holistic care.
The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering the assessment and treatment of patients within an identified caseload, and will also be expected to work flexibly to ensure a wide range of patient needs are met. There is an expectation to work one to one with patients and to facilitate group sessions; there will be opportunities to develop therapeutic group work skills with the support and supervision of the therapy team. There is also an opportunity to be part of a preceptorship programme if newly qualified.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will work closely with the multi-disciplinary
team to ensure a safe working environment is maintained for patients and staff
alike, and will have a key role in contributing to assessments, reviews and
discharge planning. The occupational therapy team play a key role in
identifying patients strengths and needs, and recommend what is required to
expedite safe and timely discharges from hospital.
We are looking for someone who is able to work effectively
within a team, and manage the demands of the job by prioritising their own
workload, delegating tasks and using supervision and support structures
effectively. The team are committed to staff development and have regular CPD
sessions in house and within the organisation; there are also external training
opportunities available.
The team are committed to reviewing and improving
the quality of our service, and working collaboratively to improve patient care
and treatment within the unit and across the acute care pathway.

To be

occupational therapy students as appropriate. This may include being a
fieldwork educator and also being a professional clinical supervisor as

emphasis on the inpatient stay in line with the Recovery Model principles.
To
consolidate and develop own knowledge base of the principles and practice of occupational
therapy, gaining knowledge of the Mental Health Act 1983, CPA and other
relevant national and local policies and procedures and applying knowledge as
appropriate.
To
develop skills in offering a range of treatment techniques within the field of
mental health occupational therapy practice using therapeutic activities.
To
provide formal assessment of functioning both psychological and physiological
in relation to maximising function and maintaining healthy patterns of living
re: self care, productivity and leisure.
To
develop an awareness and working practice of risk management within the multi-disciplinary
