Come and work in beautiful Devon - close to the sea, moors, and with a great work -life balance! An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Therapist in the field of Community Speech and Language Therapy.
We are keen to recruit a friendly, experienced team member to support patients with a range of communication and swallow difficulties arising from diagnoses such as stroke, MND, Dementia, MS and Parkinson's. The post will involve working in a busy community team, ensuring that patients receive excellent rehabilitation and support in their place of residence. We are keen to receive applications from external applicants.
The post holder should be confident in working collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team and possess excellent clinical and communication skills. Ideally we are looking for a candidate with band 6 experience, but would consider band 5s looking to develop their skills. If you are committed to the principles of clinical governance, evidence based practice, the delivery of patient centred care and would like a new challenge, we would love to hear from you.
The SLT service is committed to CPD, research and audit and clinical supervision. We have a close working relationship with Marjons University, speech and language therapy students, the Peninsular Medical School and a range of 3rd sector organisations.
Interviews will be held on 25/7/23
Main duties of the job

To be responsible for prioritisation, assessment, diagnosis, treatment programmes and discharges for your own caseload in the community, with access to second opinions from Team Leader or other band 6 SLTs as required.
To line manage, supervise and provide support and training for less experienced therapists and students within the SLT team.
To communicate findings of assessments and recommendations to members of the multi-disciplinary team, and co-ordinate appropriate care plans, goal planning and discharge, making onward referrals to outside agencies/voluntary sector as appropriate.
To be responsible for training and advising patients, carers, professionals, and non-professionals how to support highly complex speech, language, communication and swallowing (dysphagia) difficulties.
To deputise for Team Leader SLT on all matters relating to the speech and language service as required.
The post holder will need to travel and attend to service users based across Plymouth and other geographical areas. Full and valid driving licence and access to a car for work purposes is required.
