We are delighted to offer an opportunity for an
inspiring, dedicated, and enthusiastic band C, Specialist in Special Care Dentistry
to join our team at Plymouth Community Dental Services (PCDS) which is part of
Livewell Southwest (LSW).
This is a permanent, full-time post, 37.5 hours per
week. Flexible working and part-time applications will also be considered.
You must hold a recognised dentist qualification,
be registered with the GDC as a specialist in special care dentistry and hold a
performer number on the NHS Performers List for England. Applications will be
considered within 6 months of successful completion of Specialist Training
(CCST) at interview.
You will work as part of a specialist-led team, working
alongside specialists in special care dentistry, paediatric dentistry, and minor
oral surgery. You will be providing dental care to adults with additional
needs, with or without the use of conscious sedation and under general
anaesthesia.
You should be confident, able to work under
pressure, able to communicate well with staff and work as part of a team with
band A and band B dentists, dental therapists and dental nurses.

Main duties of the job
This role is to support the provision of high-quality clinical care to special care patients and to help develop the special care provision with PCDS.
PCDS is a specialist lead service providing the full range of community dentistry to priority groups including routine and emergency care. This role will work alongside another Specialist in Special Care to deliver an efficient, patient focussed special care provision; providing dental care to adults with additional and complex needs. This will include treatment under conscious sedation and GA.
This role will also support the specialist trainee post within the service, development of Band B special care dentists and Band A trainee post.
