Job summary

To work as part of the Children's Community Nursing Team as an experienced band 5 nurse, providing nursing care primarily within a child's home, ensuring the delivery of evidenced based care to children and their families or carers. To apply for this post you must have a NMC Child Nursing registration. The application must have a full driving licence. and access to a car for business use.

Main duties of the job

Clinical

  • to participate in and critically evaluate the assessment, planning and provision of skilled nursing care in negotiation with the child and family, in conjunction with the CCN team leader
  • to provide skilled, effective, evidenced based nursing care for children within their own homes including technology dependent such as tracheostomy care and central venous access.
  • To teach parents and carers skills to enable them to look after their child at home
  • To provide information and support to facilitate the child and family's own choices with regards to nursing care
  • to promote Health Education as an integrated aspect of care delivery

  • to facilitate and encourage a learning environment and be actively involved in meeting the educational needs of learners
  • to be responsible for the care of equipment issued to a home and to report any defect or loss
  • to participate in Child Protection procedures.
  • to establish and maintain good relationships with the members of the multi-disciplinary team, for example, Acute services, Tertiary Centres, Social Services and other agencies

  • to maintain accurate records and statistical returns as required by Provide
