Senior Practitioner – Suffolk Outreach Team SSHS

Job summary

The post holder will take a lead role in the design and delivery of effective health promotion (HP) and behaviour change interventions to both young people and the adult population across Suffolk

Main duties of the job

To lead on health promotion for SSHS, tailoring interventions using local needs assessment and national data to ensure delivery is aimed at relevant communities. These include, for example, HIV & STI testing, health promotion including HIV awareness, inter-faith/faith-based work, GP engagement, campaign delivery/ social marketing in line with the delivery of regional and national HIV prevention programmes.

Essential

  • Hold a relevant Health Promotion Qualification or substantial experience in a Health Promotion Role

WORK RELATED KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE

Essential

  • Experience of managing staff including undertaking staff supervisions and appraisals.
  • Experience of delivering and evaluating health promotion interventions to communities that experience health inequalities
  • Experience of delivering education / training packages to professionals and/or community groups

Desirable

  • Knowledgeable about HIV prevention, sexual health, contraception and other health needs of communities at risk of poor sexual health and HIV in the UK
  • A good level of knowledge about key national and local sexual health and HIV issues
  • A good understanding of relationships, sex and health education (RSHE)

SKILLS & APTITUDES

Essential

  • Excellent interpersonal skills: ability to communicate at different levels, build & manage relationships with a range of stakeholders
  • Good standards of accuracy, numeracy and literacy; ability to produce reports and other documents on time and to an excellent standard
  • Ability to manage and prioritise own workload and communicate to support/gain support from a wider team
  • Computer literacy in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint and database entry skills
  • Good standards of accuracy, numeracy and literacy; ability to input data onto clinical and client databases
