Job summary
We have an opportunity for a new Parkinson's disease Specialist Nurse to join the Community Parkinson's Disease service in Mid Essex. We are looking for a Nurse or AHP with experience of working with people with Parkinsons disease and holding a non medical prescribing qualification.
Our team of specialist clinicians provides support to individuals aged 18 and over who have received a confirmed diagnosis of Parkinson's Disease. We take a holistic approach to managing the symptoms of Parkinson's and offer support and advice to both patients and their caregivers.
The team provide links across a range of health care providers and other agencies, to support and co ordinate care for people with PD, liaising between primary, intermediate, community and secondary care providers as well as liaison with the voluntary sector.
Main duties of the job
- To work across both the outpatient and inpatient settings to manage a caseload of patients with varying PD problems, providing patients and families with information on secondary preventions, education, advice, and encouragement.
- Maintain and organise the specialist nurse-led clinic, ensuring regular review, order investigations where appropriate; refer to appropriate care providers, and be responsible for contacting the relevant care team in cases where urgent intervention may be required.
