SALARY: Band 5 mid-point £32,324
HOURS: Full time
BASE: Across Nottingham City
CONTRACT: Training contract fixed term for 1 year/Secondment for 1 year for internal candidates commencing 1st September 2025 (Please note positions for this job are subject to funding).
We are seeking dynamic and innovative Registered Nurses or Midwives to undertake the Specialist Community Public Health Nurse (SCPHN) Postgraduate Diploma (PGDip) leading to a qualification and NMC registration as either a SCPHN Health Visitor or SCPHN School Nurse. We welcome both internal and external applications from Nurses and Midwives who are passionate about pursuing a career working as a Specialist Practitioner within an integrated 0-19 childrens service.
We will be holding a Microsoft Teams webinar to provide information about Nottingham CityCare, the SCPHN role and the University of Derby course.
This will be held on Tuesday 11th March 2025 7-8pm

Main duties of the job
The successful applicants will undertake a 1-year Diploma (PGDip). Academic work is carried out at Derby University and your placement will be within the Nottingham CityCare Childrens Public Health 0-19 Nursing Service where you will be supported by qualified mentors.
As a Student SCPHN Health Visitor you will be supported within an integrated 0-19 team, to take the lead on the delivery of the Healthy Child Programme .
As a Student SCPHN School Nurse you will be supported to learn how to work with children and young people between the ages of 5 and 19 via school drop in sessions and on the delivery of public health initiatives.
SCPHN HV & SN will also be taught how to caseload manage the upper tiers to be able to support the children and families you have the privelige of working with.
Nottingham CityCare expects to recruit SCPHN students to permanent posts on the successful completion of the course. Qualified SCPHN School Nurses and Health Visitors will be appointed to a Band 6 position.
It is essential that applicants hold a full UK Driving License and have access to a suitable vehicle for business purposes throughout the course
