Job summary
This opportunity is based with the Leg ulcer service and managed by the Tissue Viability Team, we are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and conscientious care support worker to work in our leg ulcer clinics alongside a registered nurse.
The leg ulcer service is a dedicated nurse led team that delivers quality and effective care to heal ulcers whilst caring for the whole person.
We are a dynamic, developing service and enthusiastic team providing education, advice, support and clinical care for patients across Nottingham CityCare Leg Ulcer Clinics.
We strive to find the best ways to engage patients with their care and promote healthy legs so that they stay healed.
This role is a fixed term post (until Sept 30th 2026) working 15 hours per week, covering maternity leave (this will be reviewed to continue working as roles in this service change regularly).
The hours of work will be dependent on shifts that require covering so the 15 hours will usually be over 2 days which will be flexible (Clinics are held Monday and Friday no weekends). The Service hours are 8.30am 5pm or 8am 4.30 pm excluding weekends and bank holidays.

Main duties of the job
You will be working with the leg ulcer nurses working in established leg ulcer clinics across Nottingham City and developing skills in leg ulcer care, helping and supporting patients about their condition.
You will assist in this process helping patients and learning about healing and helping prevent future leg ulcers.
You will undertake assisting in the coordination of clinics for leg ulcer patients. Within the wider service you will be involved in development of your role and support to other health care professionals.
You will need experience in providing clinical care, a keen interest within the field of wound care, be able to demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
You must be able to prioritise tasks and manage time effectively, also be able to work flexibly within the team and be confident in completing individual tasks.
- Assisting patients at appointments
- Assisting the nurse to remove bandages, wash and redress legs
- Helping patients with health advice
- Delivering compassionate care
- Following infection control guidance with cleaning equipment
- Assisting in leg ulcer assessment using specialist equipment

Dimensions

- Training sessions, including in-service training to take every reasonable opportunity to develop, improve and maintain clinical skills and knowledge.
- Mentorship of other colleagues as appropriate to the role.
- To deliver wound and skin care with competent application of paste bandages and compression bandages following instructions on the care plan
- To report any concerns during procedures or wound observation to the registered nurse
Administrative Duties
- To provide a service to patients, families and carers attending clinic answering enquiries in a helpful or welcoming manner as required.
- To record client information on System One as appropriate.
- To work with team to facilitate ordering, distribution and maintenance of equipment.
