Job summary
An opportunity has arisen for a full time Band 4 Dietetic Assistant post. The successful candidate will be working with the Community Adults Nutrition & Dietetic Service. You will be based at Sherwood Rise health Centre and will be expected to deliver community clinics across various health Centres in Nottingham City
We are looking for an enthusiastic and energetic individual who has an interest in nutrition.
The post is both interesting and varied with a particular focus on working with malnourished patients requiring Oral Nutritional Supplements (ONS). The role requires someone to show initiative and work as a member of a team. Applicants should have a responsible attitude and be able to demonstrate good communication skills.
Previous NHS and Dietetic experience is a distinct advantage.

Main duties of the job
You will be part of an experienced team working in partnership with other stakeholders to facilitate effective patient care.
You must be able to demonstrate effective communication, organisational and interpersonal skills and be able to work methodically under pressure using your own initiative.
You will need to understand the importance of confidentiality and a strong commitment in the delivery of a high standard of care to the citizens of Nottingham

- To support the Dietitians with the Oral Nutritional Supplement service (ONS).
- To support Dietitians with the delivery of patient group education sessions

- To support the Community Diabetes team with Type 2 diabetes structured education
Dimensions

Key Responsibilities
Clinical
- To undertake individual treatment and interventions with clients under the supervision of qualified staff.
- To support qualified staff with providing therapeutic dietary and lifestyle advice to patients.
- To support qualified staff in the Oral Nutritional Supplements (ONS) service by regularly monitoring waiting lists and carrying out patient reviews.
- To monitor individual patients nutritional intakes and requirements through the evaluation of a complex range of information. This will include assessment of individual nutritional and clinical circumstances, patient priorities, lifestyle, and ability to understand and implement change.
- To utilise the following skills and competencies for monitoring adult patients. Reviewing anthropometric measurements, appropriateness of, and compliance with nutrition care plans.
- To communicate relevant dietary advice and lifestyle advice effectively
- To support qualified staff to provide nutrition and dietetic services to care homes.
- To support qualified staff to provide a domiciliary service to housebound patients and their carers to review patients.
- To accept responsibility for designated caseload.
- To refer service users to external agencies and specialists when their needs are beyond the assistant practitioner (AP) role (as per AP guidelines).
- To have the ability to gain valid informed consent and to identify through assessment, clients who lack capacity. To work within a legal framework with clients who lack the capacity to consent to treatment.
