Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated enthusiastic individual who holds a professional registration in Health or Social Care to work as the Specialist Practitioner for Safeguarding Adults within Navigo's Safeguarding Team.

We are a small welcoming and dedicated team providing high quality Safeguarding advice and assurances across Navigo. The team consists of Safeguarding Adults and Safeguarding Children's Practitioners and so there will be both an opportunity and expectation to enhance and learn skills in the Safeguarding of Children, in order to support the team as a whole.

If you are competent in Adult Safeguarding and would like to feel valued, appreciated, learn and contribute to Safeguarding people within a Mental Health Organisation - we would love to hear from you.

Main duties of the job

You must be able to provide evidence based expert advice and support to all clinical and non clinical staff within Navigo.

Act as a visible and knowledgeable resource across the organisation.

Deliver effective safeguarding training and ensure that staff have an understanding of and are able to apply the principles of the Mental Capacity Act and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards, alongside the safeguarding principles.

Act as a point of contact for internal staff and outside partner agencies on all safeguarding matters.

Be able to deputise for the Named Nurse when applicable

Advocate for Adults at Risk and ensure that Making Safeguarding Personal is key to all safeguarding activities.

Support compliance with Local and National Safeguarding Standards, Audit and Quality improvements.

Essential

  • Experience working as a Band 6 or equivalent within a Safeguarding role with significant knowledge around Safeguarding legislation, national and local safeguarding policies, processes and procedures.
  • Experience of attending and contributing within multi-agency meetings.
  • Experience of working with the Care Act 2014 including a sound knowledge of Section 42 Enquiries, the Mental Capacity Act and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards.
  • Good working knowledge of the difference types of abuse and recognising and responding to abuse/neglect.
  • Good knowledge of Making Safeguarding Personal

Desirable

  • Experience of working within mental health and understands the Mental Health Act.
  • Has experience of the development of training and is able to deliver training.
  • Working Knowledge of Safeguarding procedures in relation to Children.
  • Has experience of Safeguarding Adults Reviews (SAR), Learning from lives and deaths people with a learning disability and autistic people (LEDER) and Domestic Abuse Related Death Reviews (DARDR)

  • Best Interest Assessor Qualification (BIA).
