Job summary

As a Domestic support Worker you would be working as part of a small and friendly team within Tukes. Your job would be to maintain a high standard of cleanliness at all times throughout our Acute sites

Although generally based on one site there will be a requirement to work in other areas within the organisation covering annual leave or unexpected eventualities

The role will suit a person who has experience of working in a hospitality or care environment with a friendly adaptable attitude and enjoys the variety this role offers, depending on the needs of the business.

Please note; the expected start date for this position is not before 05/1/2026.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will undertake a wide range of duties in relation to domestic services on both acute and community sites within various Navigo locations operated by TUKES. It will also be the post holders responsibility to ensure that any additional requests from the sites are dealt with efficiently and effectively whenever possible. Some of the sites provide direct patient services, and it is therefore essential you conduct yourself in a friendly, efficient and approachable manner.

The post holder will play an essential part in Tukes Domestic Service team, and together the team are the first point of contact for staff and Managers to ensure standards and expectations of Navigo are maintained at all times.

Job description

Job responsibilities

The Domestic support worker will be expected to work as part of a domestic team in achieving and maintaining high infection control standards (above 85% cleanliness) in all inpatient facilities. These results are instrumental to the role and contribute to CQC standards.

**The Band 2 Domestic support Worker will ensure daily communication between the team is recorded, cleaning cupboards replenished weekly and any minor problems dealt with in a timely manner.

Domestic Support Workers be responsible for ensuring sites are of hospital standard, recording and reporting issues to the Domestic team Leader.

It will be the post holders responsibility to undertake all domestic duties as required by Navigo services as part of the cleaning team whether on Acute sites or community.

There may be occasions when it is necessary to ensure the smooth operation of the laundry function, this includes the laundering and ironing of all non-personal items associated with the inpatient facilities, this will include the laundering of Tukes catering staff uniforms.

Regular contact with the Tukes support workers will be available to ensure all training and employability needs are being met for our members.

Liaise with the Housekeepers on sites on a regular basis, to ensure the service meets CQC standards and that any concerns are addressed and dealt with efficiently and quickly.

It is essential that the post holder is flexible in both hours and travel as there will be occasions when you will be required to work on different sites for the needs of the business, this may include private customers and Gardner Hill caravan.

Under the guidance of the domestic team leader you will be responsible for ensuring Health and Safety at Work Act and COSHH regulations and meets the standard of cleaning set with in Navigo.

It is the post holder responsibility for ensuring domestic cleaning is carried out within these guidelines and legal requirements are adhered to at all times.

Ensure that appropriate uniforms and protective clothing is worn, to maintain safety and hygiene conditions for both Staff and service users.

Play a significant role in the service users training programme, liaising with support workers in TUKES ensuring they are adequately supported and are in receipt of the correct level training to meet their individual development needs.

Ensure all equipment and products are being used in a safe manner in accordance with the correct procedures and manufacturers instructions, reporting any defective items to the Domestic team leader.

Communicate any concerns or complaints to the TUKES domestic team leader to ensure that any issues are dealt with in a timely and efficient manner.

SCOPE AND RANGE

Have a good knowledge of working in domestic cleaning including all COSHH regulations within a domestic environment.

**Take responsibility as part of the team for ordering products for the sites domestic use

**Deal with any minor issues from the staff or housekeeper which may be necessary to ensure an excellent standard of service at all times

**Take responsibility for the daily tasks and procedures are undertaken in a professional manner whilst safeguarding of members which may be working within the team

Take responsibility for any health and Safety concerns, noting any unsafe working practices and reporting faulty or damaged equipment to the Domestic team leader within the service areas and any surrounding areas.

Must be willing to travel to a variety of sites within the organisation.

Assist Tukes Support workers in the training of members and trainees, ensuring good practice at all times.

Ensure Fire and safety and correct lifting and handling is maintained and adhered to.

Have a good attitude and enjoys being part of a team.

The ability to work well within a team and autonomously.

Work as part of a team, to ensure great service and good communication is maintained for continuity of service across all of our managed sites in a very diverse working environment.
