Job summary
This post is an exciting enhancement of the existing
multi-disciplinary community eating disorder service with a specific focus on
alternatives to admission. The team will work closely alongside the existing
team and the successful candidates will have the chance to be a part of the
development of this innovative specialist pathway of care for service users in
North East Lincolnshire. The team will provide a package of enhanced mealtime
support and intensive work with young people and families, usually within their
own home with the aim being to prevent hospital admissions or shorten them if
they are deemed necessary.
Main duties of the job
The main
elements of the clinical work will include supporting service users and their
families (when appropriate) during mealtimes in a variety of settings, but
mainly in the family home, using an evidence-based model and care pathway,
completing physical health checks and supporting the MDT to deliver an
intensive package of support to service users and their families.
The
post holder may also support co-facilitation of support groups, training and
assessments alongside senior members of staff.

They will
work in close liaison with health and social care professionals in statutory
and non-statutory agencies to facilitate and deliver a range of services to
ensure that continuing care needs of service users are met.
Promote and
implement creative ways of working with service users.
- Instigate,
develop, and maintain a relationship with the service user and/or carer to
facilitate the accurate delivery of care
- Facilitate physical
health clinics or support groups and at times complete clinical sessions when
senior staff are not available.
Attend
appropriate training as identified in supervision, e.g., reflective practice,
handover, appraisal and provide feedback to the team on training.
Maintain and
update skills/knowledge relevant to the post and ensure practice is evidence
based.
Attend and
participate in team and clinical meetings as required.
Accrue
specialist knowledge and training, gained through formal training and
experience, relating to mental and physical health and apply this knowledge
when delivering care to service users.
Contribute
to discussions in relation to decisions about the range of options for
treatment and care plans based on judgement of service users need.

in the assessments and reviews of both service users and carers in line with
team operational policies.

- Knowledge and understanding of basic computer skills and indicates a willingness to be trained on the current, Service User electronic records used.
- Able to communicate concisely both verbally and in writing.
- Experience or training in customer care or dealing with the public indicating an ability to engage people.
- Able to organise own workload according to service user and service need.
- Able to work independently and use own initiative.
Desirable
- Experience in clinical skills such as blood pressure, calculating BMI and venepuncture.
- NVQ training or equivalent in customer care
- Ability to involve service users actively in planning and evaluating their care plan/package that promotes their independence and physical and mental health.
