We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and flexible Nursing Assistant to join our established team of nursing staff based at Harrison House.

The role involves providing care and support to in-patients currently experiencing acute mental health difficulties requiring an inpatient admission

Commitment to meeting the needs of people with mental health problems and valuing their rights is a pre-requisite.

You will be required to adopt a flexible working pattern and be committed to self development and training. There will be an expectation that applicants will have completed the Care Certificate, or equivalent, or be in the process of completing this

Main duties of the job

The principle role of the Nursing Assistant is to assist the healthcare team in the provision and delivery of service user care. This includes taking physical measurements as delegated by the team, supporting service users in maintaining their health and wellbeing, undertaking specified and delegated clinical and therapeutic activities, assist with the provision of clinical care under the supervision of healthcare professionals, ensuring high standards are maintained in a safe environment, promoting equality and sensitivity for all individuals, assisting registered professionals in the implementation and evaluation of individualised care plans, recording and reporting accurately any changes related to the service users' current behaviour and/or risks to the nurse/healthcare professional in charge in a timely manner, recording care given and reporting omissions accurately and in a timely manner.

The postholder must observe report and record changes in the service users' physical, mental health and behaviour.

Be aware of and work to the principles of the Mental Health Act (MHA).

Contribute to the assessment, planning and implementation of, and evaluating, Service Users care.

Create and maintain professional supportive relationships with all members of staff with other professionals and agencies to enhance recovery.

Provide escort duties to the service users under the direction of the nurse in charge.

Assist in the collection of data for the purpose of audit, research, and service performance.

Contribute to the maintenance and monitoring of service standards and act as an active team member.

Promote service user involvement in all aspects of their care.
