Job summary

The Transport Service provides accessible transport means to vulnerable people in order that they can participate in the services offered by Day Opportunities throughout North East Lincolnshire and the surrounding area.

Main duties of the job

Job title: Passenger Assistant

Department: Transport

Base: Cromwell Road Resource Centre and Doughty Road Depot

17.25 hours per week

Hours of work Monday, Tuesday & Friday 7.30am to 10.30am and 2.15pm to 5.00pm (1:15 to 4pm Friday)

£22,627 (under 21); £24,735 (21 and over) pro rata per annum fixed salary point

You will be responsible for providing assistance, supervision and support to service users to and from their homes, to any venue within the area, ensuring all Health and Safety regulations are adhered to.

You will need to reassure confused/distressed clients and you will need to liaise sensitively with families and carers where required, tact and persuasive skills are required.

You must have experience of working with vulnerable adults with a range of needs and be able to support service users. It is essential that you have effective communication and team working skills, ability to build positive inter-personal relationships with a range of people e.g. service users, carers, work colleagues and have the ability to safely use a range of moving and handling equipment i.e. moving and handling, push/pulling wheelchairs.
