Job summary

The aims of the Transport Service are to provide safe, accessible and efficient transport means to vulnerable people in order that they can participate in the services offered by Day Opportunities for vulnerable people throughout North East Lincolnshire and the surrounding area.

Main duties of the job

Job title: Passenger Assistant

Department: Transport

Base: Val Waterhouse Centre

17.25 hours per week

Rota pattern: Monday, Wednesday and Friday 7.30am to 10.30am and 2.15pm to 5.00pm (1.15pm to 4pm Friday)

Salary Range 2 £20,702 (under 23) - £21,190 (over 23)pro rata per annum you will be appointed on a fixed salary point within the salary range

You will be responsible for providing assistance, supervision and support to service users to and from their homes, to any venue within the area, ensuring all Health and Safety regulations are adhered to.

You will need to reassure confused/distressed clients and you will need to liaise sensitively with families and carers where required, tact and persuasive skills are required.

You must have experience of working with vulnerable adults with a range of needs and be able to support service users.It is essential that you have effective communication and team working skills, ability to build positive inter-personal relationships with a range of people e.g. service users, carers, work colleagues and have the ability tosafely use a range of moving and handling equipment i.e. moving and handling, push/pulling wheelchairs.
