The children's community nursing team provides highly skilled, nursing care to children and young people 0-19 years with complex health needs and long term conditions within their home and other care environments.
We provide a high standard of evidenced based nursing care for children and young people with asthma, enteral needs, wound management, acute and long term conditions, in addition to palliative and end of life care.
Our aim is to reduce hospital attendances and enable children and young people to participate in school and other community based activities.
This post is suitable for an experienced children's nurse who should have an interest in asthma or a willingness to develop and extend specialised skills and knowledge. The applicant should have leadership skills and experience in either community or an acute setting.
This post offers a unique opportunity as a Senior children's community nurse in a well established team, with an emphasis on practice development, for a service which provides care Monday-Friday 8am-6pm and the service is based at Snapdragons Children centre in strood.
Main duties of the job
- We are looking for a motivated and experienced children's nurse with specialist knowledge in asthma management, ideally with prior community nursing experience. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent clinical skills, work effectively within a multidisciplinary team, and be committed to delivering high-quality, child-centred care in the community setting.

Identify and manage safeguarding concerns in collaboration with child protection services.

Act as an advocate for the child and family, ensuring their voice is central in care planning.

Supervise, mentor, and support junior nurses and support staff.

Deliver training sessions and contribute to staff development and appraisal processes.

Promote professional standards and model best practice.
- The post holder will take a lead in co-ordinating training and development and developing clinical competencies.
