Job summary

  • Are you an experienced mental health nurse with an interest in working with dementia patients?
  • Do you have either formal mental health training or have considerable experience in mental health conditions/the management of Dementia patients?

The role involves the day to day management of the care home, providing visible leadership to a large team of nurses and support workers. There is an element of on call working across the inpatient units. You will work closely with the Head of service to ensure Darland provides excellent standards of care for the residents.

This is an exciting opportunity to move across to a hybrid clinical and leadership role, allowing the successful candidate to progress in their career. Training and support can be given to the right person to extend both clinical and management/leadership skills and you will be part of a wider team of managers working across a number of MCH services.

Main duties of the job

  • To provide strong, visible professional leadership across the service area.
  • To be the operational lead for the service, supporting the team to deliver excellent patient outcomes and experiences.
  • To support the head of service and other senior team members in all aspects of the care home's management and service provision.
  • Working within policy guidelines ensuring that all relevant legislation, internal policies and procedures are adhered to, including code of conduct.
  • To assess, plan, deliver and evaluate resident care in order to achieve the highest standards of contemporary care.
  • To lead the clinical nursing work and staff management in the designated area of responsibility. To help maintain the appropriate atmosphere and practice of care based on the care home group's values deriving from a concern for the individual and mutual respect between residents and staff.

  • A registered mental health nurse or senior practitioner / registered general nurse with significant experience of working in a mental health/dementia care environment at an advanced level.
