Job description

Job responsibilities

Your application form and personal statement

This programme attracts a high number of applicants; this is your opportunity to showcase yourself so here are some tips to increase your chances of being shortlisted:

  • Your statement should be no longer than 300-400 words maximum.
  • We want to employ people who are motivated and have a passion for working with children and families; make sure you give clear reasons for applying for this opportunity.
  • You need to be able to demonstrate that you understand what school nurses do. You may want to reference Department of Health documents as evidence that you have been actively researching, however it is as important that you are able to describe the skills you have that are transferrable to the role of a school nurse.
  • Some applicants go into lots of detail about their personal and family experience when completing their statement; it is ok to mention experience outside work where relevant (for example, volunteering) but we need to see evidence of your professional skills and abilities too.

Please check your application carefully before submitting; some avoidable errors, which could result in your application being rejected are:

  • Nursing qualifications not recorded on form
  • Expired NMC pin number
  • No NMC pin details
  • Inconsistencies in information and employment history

Please check the information you provided very carefully before submitting the application.

All information you supply in support of your application for employment should, to the best of your knowledge, be true and accurate. Failure by an applicant to provide accurate
