The Positive Behaviour Support Team currently has a unique opportunity for an ambitious learning disability professional who is interested in supporting people with a learning disability to have a better quality of life.
No day is the same within PBS and staff enjoy a varied role which not only challenges them but also helps them build upon their existing knowledge and develop new skills. All staff within the team receive regular supervision.
Newly Qualified nurses will complete a preceptorship programme.
Sirona Adult Learning Disability Health Service
The Sirona Adult Learning Disability Health (ALDH) Service is a centre of excellence for specialist learning disability health needs. We cover 3 localities where multidisciplinary teams enable our service users to access health services through direct care, liaison with other services and offering support and training on how to work with people who have a learning disability and how to make reasonable adjustments. The service prides itself on delivering high quality support to service users with a variety of physical and mental health issues alongside their Learning Disability. All staff are required to use a range of communication and listening skills to work effectively with our service users. Where necessary you will be required to work at other bases or work remotely from home.
Main duties of the job
- To complete functional behaviour and other profession specific assessments, analysing this information to work in partnership with service users and their support networks to develop a positive behaviour support plan.
- Support the implementation and understanding of these plans through role modelling and developing bespoke workshops and training.
- Work autonomously, managing a complex caseload which will include supporting service users on the Care Programme Approach framework and care-coordination.
- To work as part of the wider multidisciplinary team, liaising with relevant professionals, carers, agencies and providers.
- Support students on placement within the team and will have opportunity to clinically supervise others and develop your management skills and experience.
- Regular Clinical and Managerial Supervision will be provided as well as support to further develop your skills through continuing professional development.
