Would you like to make a real difference to the health and wellbeing of children, young people and families? An exciting opportunity has arisen for the post of Community Early Years Practitioner to join the North Somerset locality.

Sirona Public Health Nursing service has undergone an exciting transformation to embed the i-THRIVE Framework. This facilitates a preventative/early intervention approach to service provision which empowers children, young people and their families to be actively involved in decisions about the support they receive.

The first vacancy is within the Woodspring Health Visiting team, currently based in Portishead, working 37.5 hours per week over five days.This is a permanent position.

A second vacancy has arisen for a temporary post, working 37.5 hours per week over five days within the Weston, Worle and Villages team, based at Badger House. This post is to cover a secondment for 10 months.

Main duties of the job

You will work as part of a skill mix team, supporting delivery of integrated, evidence-based services for children, their families. Focusing on prevention, promotion, early intervention, improving health and reducing health inequalities.

Using a holistic and sensitive approach to support parents with their children's social, emotional and developmental needs, working in family homes, children's centres, and other community settings inNorth Somerset.

Working in partnership with families to deliver evidence-based interventions promoting attuned and sensitive parenting and support the social, emotional and developmental needs of children.

You will work largely autonomously (lone working is a feature of the role) with supervision. There will be times when you access additional support or provide additional support with colleagues.

You will be responsible for planning, delivering and recording your allocated work and liaising with Health Visitors and other colleagues.

This role requires a flexible, warm and reflective practitioner committed to ongoing development of their skills and knowledge in order to maintain the excellent standards of the service.

You will work with communities and services within your locality, including early years settings and children's centres to build social capital and community networks.

You will embed Sirona's vision of supporting communities socially and economically to tackle the impact of child poverty, reduce inequalities and add social value.

  • Evidence of a commitment to continuing professional development and reflective practice
  • An understanding of evidence based practice in all areas of practice
  • Demonstrate good communication and interpersonal skills in a range of situations.
  • Demonstrate an ability to remain focussed on the child and child outcomes when working with families.
  • Evidence of a clear understanding of the safeguarding role of CEYP within a universal service and multi agency context
  • Demonstrate knowledge of early child development

  • Experience of group facilitation
  • Experience working in a similar community role.
