Specialist Speech & Language Therapist

Job summary

Due to some exciting new developments we have a mixture of Band 6 sessions available across our Service in : Early Years, School Age and School Age Complex Needs Outreach in Mainstream Schools. We are looking for Speech and Language Therapist's with appropriate experience who would like part or full time hours in any of the following:

EY Community Clinic in Bristol and / or South Gloucestershire

SA Complex Needs Outreach Support Team in South Gloucestershire

School link therapist in North Somerset

We are a friendly and supportive team that deliver a variety of clinical Speech and Language Therapy Services across Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire. We offer regular training opportunities to our staff, a buddy system for new starters, regular line management, whole team and smaller team meetings. A large and supportive team means that there is plenty of opportunity for development and progression internally.

Main duties of the job

As a team we pride ourselves on delivering high quality assessment, intervention & support for children, young people, families and the partners we work with across Bristol, North Somerset, South Gloucestershire. [BNSSG]. We have strong team values and work collaboratively across BNSSG. We are looking for someone with experience of working with children with a range of SLCN, that is able to independently assess, plan intervention and provide therapy within a range of settings (therefore access to transport is required). Dysphagia qualification is desirable for the Complex Needs Outreach role, but not essential.

You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and be able to work as part of a MDT.

You will be committed to improving outcomes for children and young people, & actively participate in improving our Service as we undertake our Service review. You will have the ability to put research into practice, supporting the team to develop and improve within our iThrive model.

  • Degree or equivalent in Speech and Language Therapy as recognised by the Health and Care Professions Council

Desirable

  • Post graduate training appropriate to the field of Children's Speech and Language Therapy
  • Post graduate dysphagia qualification

  • To be able to select and carry out appropriate assessment and in-depth observation combined with appropriate discussions / liaison to form a differential diagnosis
  • Experience in understanding clinical governance, audit, research and quality issues and their implications for services
  • To be able to select, set and evaluate appropriate, individualised and relevant therapy goals / treatment plans / outcome measures alongside the patient and parent / carer
  • Presenting and receiving information, to / from MDT staff, other agencies, education staff, families and / or service users, writing reports and treatment plans, writing EHCP contributions (with manager support), sharing sensitive diagnostic and prognostic information with families, demonstrating interventions.
