Job summary
We are excited to offer this opportunity for a Band 4 Rehabilitation Therapy Assistant role, working with our South Gloucestershire Physiotherapy team, based at Cossham Hospital.
- You will be responsible for assisting the team in providing a high standard physiotherapy service by implementing treatment programmes using a range of exercises and physiotherapy techniques as delegated by a registered professional.
- You will be required to organise and run exercise groups under the supervision of registered clinicians.
- This role is also responsible for providing clerical and administrative support to the team.
Main duties of the job
- To carry a caseload and implement treatment plans as delegated by a registered physiotherapist assessing patient progress and reporting back to the physiotherapist; this may be in a variety of settings without direct supervision of a physiotherapist.
- To progress/regress exercise programmes as appropriate, recognising your scope of practice and liaising with the referring physiotherapist as appropriate.
- To provide appropriate holistic advice to patients to promote self-management and improve prognosis.
- To deliver groups, including ESCAPE-Pain, with a group of patients, with or without the direct supervision of a physiotherapist;
- In the absence of the delegated physiotherapist to be the first point of contact for any enquiries, which would then be escalated to an appropriate registered professional as required;
- To be responsible for the issuing, ordering and training in the safe use of physiotherapy equipment and aids for patients.

- Minimum of Level 3 (equivalent to NVQ level 3) exercise professional plus evidence of knowledge of specific MSK conditions acquired through training or experience
- Qualifications in English and Maths GCSE A-C or equivalent
Desirable
- Sports/science therapy degree (this does not need to have been completed in addition to the Level 3 exercise qualification)

- Experience of working with adults in a health and social care setting
- Able to maintain own caseload and treat patients with simple predictable conditions, as delegated by the physiotherapist and prioritise appropriately in order to meet deadlines, sometimes with minimum or no immediate supervision
- Ability to progress (and/or make minor adjustments to) prescribed treatment plans, when appropriate, by using own clinical judgement and knowledge within agreed parameters
