Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced dynamic and senior leader to join us as the Associate Director in South Gloucestershire.

This role will require you to lead service managers in the planning, provision, improvement, and development of a range of services delivered across the South Gloucestershire Locality. Leading over 200 staff you will focus on service delivery within South Gloucestershire, but you will also lead and coordinate a number of projects that will contribute to the achievement of the Locality's objectives and those of the wider organisation.

We are looking for a senior operational manager with experience within the NHS in community services. The ideal candidate would be someone with the demonstrable ability to think creatively about the future delivery of services in partnership with stakeholders, services users, carers and their families. You will have the ability to influence and inspire internal and external stakeholders at all levels. You will work within the wider health care system.

The role is based within South Gloucestershire, with a requirement to travel to other bases as appropriate.

Main duties of the job

The primary duties of the role for the Associate Director for South Gloucestershire are:

  • Lead service managers in the planning, provision, improvement and development of a range of services within the South Gloucestershire Locality.
  • Ensure the safe and cost effective provision of quality adult health services that conform to CQC, safeguarding, clinical governance and other regulatory or statutory requirements across the service portfolio.
  • Lead and coordinate a number of projects that will contribute to the achievement of the localities objectives and wider organisational objectives.
  • Devise robust plans which look to sustain achievement of the performance and financial standards for services within the portfolio.

You will be the key organisational representative for the South Gloucestershire Locality Partnership Board and other collaborative groups in the locality.

  • Educated to degree level or evidence of equivalent professional development.
  • Professional qualification in health care and current registration.
  • Recognised post-graduate Management / Leadership qualification.
  • Comprehensive training in professional and management procedures within own and related areas.

  • Extensive operational management experience including experience of managing and developing multi-disciplinary teams in a variety of locations.
  • Experience of managing contract performance.
  • Ability to resolve complex issues within services, including with staff implications using sound logic and taking into consideration relevant business implications.
  • Experience of large scale service review and redesign.
  • Involvement in strategic decision making and partnership working.
  • Expert knowledge of various health care fields and a variety of disciplines including AHPs and nurses.
  • Knowledge and understanding of safeguarding policies and procedures for both children and adults and experience of supporting front line staff in delivery.
  • Able to demonstrate a good understanding of the transformation agenda and the legislative, regulatory and performance management framework for health and social care.
  • Able to demonstrate leadership skills, credibility and integrity and ability to manage through change.
  • Excellent problem solving and decision making skills and ability to make informed decisions whilst considering wider organisational and business impacts.
  • Detailed appreciation of requirements of managing CQC regulated services.
  • Excellent financial awareness and ability to maximise use of resources.
  • Good working knowledge of typical work related systems, procedures, equipment and technology.
  • Good levels of IT literacy including good knowledge of service related systems.
