Job summary
The school aged speech and language therapy team
offer a link therapy service into mainstream and specialist primary and
secondary schools across Bristol, North Somerset and South
Gloucestershire. Work primarily takes
place within the schools, offering universal, targeted and specialist services
The service also offers enhanced input to schools
through a commissioned service which is designed to complement the core NHS
offer to schools.
Main duties of the job
The postholder will work as part of the
commissioned services team, working across a number of primary and secondary
schools, offering an enhanced Speech and Language Therapy provision that is
above the core NHS offer.
The therapist will support the students and staff
through universal, targeted and specialist services, for those children whos
needs sit outside the core NHS service. The
post holder should have interest and experience in supporting children/YP in
both primary and secondary schools.
The postholder will be part of and benefit from the
support of the wider SLT team, with support and supervision from a highly
specialist speech and language therapist for children with complex needs.

- Sound understanding of the SEND code of Practice
- Post-qualification experience of working with children with needs across a range of core areas relevant to the post e.g. neurology, learning disabilities, outpatients, community, complex needs, Autism, Trauma and Orthopaedics
- Evidence of ongoing continued professional development in areas applicable to the post
- Experience of working as an autonomous practitioner e.g., caseload management, prioritising cases, effective organisation and time management skills
- Experience of working as part of a Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT)

- Experience of providing specialist support to children with complex motor and / or communication needs
