Job summary

The Community Paediatrics service is going through a highly anticipated stage of transformation and requires a supervisor for the Bristol North Administrative Team. This role provides the opportunity to practice and develop leadership skills as the successfulcandidate will be running business as usual whilst also implementing change with a compassionate approach.

The successful candidate will be placed in a diverse department, helping to coordinate services for paediatricians, GPs, health visitors, school health nurses, and therapists. They will also liaise with management, clinical staff, and service users to ensure that the service runs in an efficient and effective way.

Main duties of the job

To provide leadership and day to day management to the administrative team of secretaries, admin and reception staff within designated base.

To provide secretarial and administrative support as required to the Clinicians from Therapies and Community Paediatrics and to support across the services as required

Deal with various enquiries from GPs, consultants, specialist nurses, relatives, patients, other medical staff and external organisations.

Use own initiative to respond to enquiries, providing both written and verbal information, directing queries to other departments/agencies as appropriate, referring complex communications to the appropriate person.

Act as a supportive and adaptable team member, assisting with the work of secretaries and receptionist when required.

  • GCSE Grade C or above in English and Mathematics (or equivalent)
  • Competent to RSA 3 level in typing/word processing
  • RSA 3/NVQ level 3

Experience

  • Understanding of medical terminology
  • Experience of working in the NHS
  • Experience of working in a faced paced admin environment
  • Excellent communicator- written, telephone skills and clearly spoken
  • Ability to prioritise and time manage own and others workloads
