Job summary

Are you an Occupational Therapist with an interest in rehabilitation looking to work within an inpatient setting?

We are looking for enthusiastic Occupational Therapists who are seeking a role where they can work in a supportive environment to assess patients with a variety of conditions, design and implement rehabilitation plans and have an active involvement in discharge planning.

Sirona inpatient rehabilitation beds are situated in community-based units providing active rehabilitation. These units also have provision for ongoing nursing care for people being supported on Discharge to Assess Pathway 2 and community stroke pathway.

Following a hospital stay, the ethos for all people being discharged is Home is Best and a large number of people are supported to return home utilising the robust and established Discharge to Assess Pathway 1

Currently the post will be rotational between the Pathway 2 rehabilitation unit and the Sub-acute stroke service at South Bristol Community Hospital and Pathway 3 beds in various nursing homes within the Bristol area.

You will be working within a supportive environment and team, where we are committed to our ongoing clinical development, education and further study. You will have the opportunity to work in a variety of multi-disciplinary teams and provide assessment and rehabilitation in a variety of settings.

Interviews will be held on Thursday 14th September.

Main duties of the job

To provide a safe, patient centred, effective and evidence-based Occupational Therapy service in the rehabilitation settings

To provide specialist assessment, rehabilitation and management of people with stroke and other long term condition

To be part of an integrated multi-disciplinary team (MDT), which includes Nurses, occupational therapists and other Allied Healthcare Professionals

To apply in-depth theoretical and working knowledge of stroke and other neurological conditions then work with the implications of these on the quality of life of patients and carers

To work variable days and shifts over 7-day period between the hours of 08.00 18:00. The post holder will need to be able to work in all our bed bases with appropriate induction to each service.The list of nursing homes that the Pathway 3 team covers are as follows-

Granville Lodge, West Town Road, Shirehampton, BS11 9NJ

Oakhill Mansions, College Park Drive, Westbury on Trym, BS10 7QD

Robinson House, Sturminster Road, Stockwood, BS14 8ET

Saffron Gardens, Prospect Place, BS5 9FT

The other areas of the rotation are based at South Bristol Community Hospital, BS14 0DE

Desirable

Frailty or neurological experience (either student of post graduate) demonstrating a broad range of clinical undergraduate experience
Experience of the application of health, safety and risk management policies
Working with a range of professionals in Health or Social Care
